Lifting the Lid Off GDPR
We are now Counting Down to the 25th of May GDPR deadline! As we get closer we are keen to bust some GDPR myths and so are sending out a handful of emails over the coming days to do just that.
If you are a B2C or B2B business with a European client base, you need to ensure you are compliant and have systems and processes in place to ensure you are handling people’s data correctly.
GDPR reflects a change in human rights and the way businesses communicate and keep data – it’s a mindset change. Data belongs to the individual, not to you.
We will help you find out more about the six most important elements of the GDPR:
- Lawful reasons to process data
- Data subject rights (Individuals’ Rights)
- Data breach procedures
- Decisions needing senior input and approval
- Managing agreements between clients and the organisations that process data
- IT security overview
Over the last few months we have shared our message with over 1800 business owners through presentations, webinars and one to ones.

Meet your panel of experts:
Andrew Roberts has been involved in B2B data management for 20 years for some of the world’s largest global IT organisations, and has built up pragmatic experience of how to manage different legislative and contractual data restrictions and regulations.
In 2014, Andrew launched Blue Tortoise to support customers faced with breaches of data licensing. The mission of the business is to provide data support for global, B2B marketing organisations, and a main element of that is to help clients become compliant with their
relevant global data protection regulations, through setting up data structures, receptacles (CRM systems, DBMSs), interfaces, and audit trails. Blue Tortoise is currently heavily involved in supporting customers in preparation for GDPR compliance, but many customers are also dealing with other regulatory regimes in different areas of the world, such as CASL, and Australian and Japanese data regulation.
When working with clients, Blue Tortoise establishes the gap between where the business is today and where it needs to be. By investigating their current approach to data and comparing that with the best practice goal, Blue Tortoise is able to create recommendations and support for customers to bridge that gap.
