Lindsay McLoughlin’s Story

By working with Blake Consultants, business owners can achieve maximum profits in the most efficient way.

A classic tension experienced by small-to-medium-sized business owners is the need to deliver at the same time as addressing new opportunities. Business development often takes a back seat, and this creates the ‘feast and famine’ cycle.

Blake Consultants use the perfect mix of intuition, experience and data-driven facts to create workflows and automation which drive increased profit, and stop the overwhelming feeling of being disorganised.

The Challenge

Lindsay came to Blake Consultants with a clear view of how she wanted her business to run but no tools with which to realise her vision.

“I’d heard of Blake Consultants”, explains Lindsay, “and I’d experienced Julia giving a talk at an event and thought her very credible.”

Lindsay needed more structure and organisation in her business. She was keen to work out which of her processes were repeatable and keep track of her many individual clients, all at different stages of their buying journey.

The Approach

Julia worked with Lindsay to understand the details, and pain points, of her business. Experience of helping many different businesses helped Julia to dig deep very quickly, understanding where Lindsay needed the support and how she could become significantly more productive with her time.

“My passion is looking at data driven processes in very human terms” says Julia. “I see a business as a living entity which needs nurturing. If a business owner is continually working in their business, and never on it, there’s unlikely to be any real growth.”

Whenever a client presents Julia with a challenge, she draws on her experience of a suite of tools as well as of being the ‘bridge’ from these tools to the business needing them. Clients therefore receive a bespoke toolkit plus the training and coaching that they need to fully integrate it and adopt the new ways of working

For Lindsay, Julia suggested a bespoke CRM system using Capsule CRM  plus documentation of the various customer journeys that existed within Lindsay’s business.

Lindsay’s Story

Lindsay explains a situation common for business owners: “I had a huge amount of information in my head. Some of it was in existence, some of it had not yet been captured. But I knew I needed a way to see the bigger picture, without constantly having to reinvent the wheel with every new customer.

“I knew I wanted my business to scale up and this could only happen if I was able to be significantly more organised and could also free up more of my precious time.

“Since working with Blake Consultants, I’ve increased my customer base by nearly 50% and I feel as though I’m fully up and running. I’ve also managed to deliver more value to my existing clients because I’m more efficient with my time. I’m no longer worrying about someone or something slipping through the net as my new system captures everything. Julia made suggestions that I feel will distinctly improve my clients’ journey: her experience means she understands the pressure that a business owner is under and she instinctively knows where and how to relieve that.”

Julia’s Solution

“Carolyne’s challenge is not uncommon. Each of us can only hold up to seven tasks in our head at any one time. After that, we feel overwhelmed and things get dropped. In my experience, that’s when smaller businesses just stop growing.”
Julia has been working with business owners and entrepreneurs for nearly ten years. Although every challenge is unique and personal, she finds many common issues and is therefore able to offer empathy, advice and solutions that are tailored individually but which are also proven concepts. “When a business puts a CRM in place, not only does it relieve the owner of holding everything in their head” explains Julia, “but it lifts that data and brings it to life. I think of a CRM as a 3-D Rubik’s Cube: you can twist and turn your data and look at business issues in many different ways. “CapsuleCRM encourages business owners to follow a ‘track’ whenever they deal with a customer. By doing that, they automatically give everyone the same excellent service but their mind is free to work on other things. If a small to medium-sized business is going to scale, it needs the robustness that a CRM offers. My customers benefit from increased thinking time, increased net profit and in some cases decreased costs, because processes are always more efficient if they are repeatable.”
“A good CRM is like a clone of yourself. It’s an extension to your memory and an opportunity to scale yourself.”
